The challenge

Microsoft was switching off Project Online, and the replacement options all asked project managers to give up the tool they plan in. Meanwhile the teams doing the work were recording hours in spreadsheets that someone re-keyed each week, so approved effort reached the plan late, if at all.

What I built

A tab inside Microsoft Project that pushes the plan out and pulls approved hours back. Everyone else records a week of time in under a minute, from a phone if they are on site. Two approvals sign it off—the line manager confirms the week, the project manager confirms their own project—and only approved hours flow back into the plan.
